After a scare about our scar, and a quick trip back to Dallas, we are home and doing fine. I was concerned about the fact that the dermabond glue that was supposed to last over 1 1/2 weeks, was completly gone at 5 days and that the disolvable packing was supposed to be gone in 4-5 days is still oozing out Joe’s nose. Anyway, our lip looks good, our nose is just going to take time to ooze. We woke up at 400 yesterday a.m. headed to Dallas for our 10:30 appt, got there, got Joe in to see another doctor in Dr. Genecov’s office (Dr. G is on vacation), had to hold Joe down while the Dr. poked in his nose with a great big q-tip, promised Joe a trip to Toys R Us if he quit struggling so much, finished up the appt, headed to Toys R Us(I unwisely chose to pass up the closest toys r us b/c I wanted to get out of Dallas before the lunch crowd hit the streets…so we drove looking for a toys r us for about an hour…thanks to Pop-Pop’s I Phone, we at least had a general direction to head…what they don’t tell you is what kind of neighborhood you are headed to…(what joe picked is another story all in its self!), got a toy only to have the cashier almost faint b/c joe’s nose is dripping what looks like blood (it’s actually the disolvable packing), drove to Red Oak to eat lunch only to have the first waitress almost faint for the same reason…I guess she couldn’t handle it and gave us a different waitress, boys fell asleep about 2:00 p.m., kept on keepin on…got to Austin at exactly 5:00…had a relatively painless jaunt through (only 30 minutes through downtown) got to New Braunfels at 6; thankfully, the boys “let me” spend another night so I didn’t have to drive home at dusk with being that tired. We got home about 10:00 this morning and are doing okay. We got to go outside to play for a little while earlier, but poor Chet got attacked by fire ants and has about 25 bites on his body between his feet and hiney…poor baby. Both boys are such troopers and were really pretty good yesterday. Joe is being a bit defiant regarding the cleaning of his nose; he hates it, he hates me when I do it (yes, he’s four and telling me this). I can’t say that I blame him, It’s certainly not my favorite thing to do either. So, wish JOe and I both luck…we both need patience!
Love to you,

sweetest little boy in the world

it’s confirmed…joe is the sweetest little boy in the world. Last night we let him watch his new valentine’s day movie, space buddies. At the end, he was crying…not a sad cry, a happy cry. Then, he came over to Brian and I and said, “I’m just so happy that it made me cry.” Of course, then, Brian and I had happy tears…when most kids would just be happy, our little Joe-Joe, has to go and be the sweetest little boy in the world.

He’s off today having some special Daddy time…they are going to get a haircut and to the nursery…Joe’s favorite place on earth!

Love to you all,
K and the boys

Getting Ready to Get Ready

Well, we’ll leave on Monday for Dallas. My step-mom, Kathy, aka Nana, will be driving with us to Dallas sometime in the am-to early afternoon. The boys, Nana and I will arrive in Dallas hopefully before traffic gets too bad, check in to our hotel and scrounge for some fun before Pop-Pop (my dad) comes up that evening. Tuesday, we have appts at the hospital bright and early. We’ll head to Teda and Stocky’s (my grandparents) after our appts (unless they are still sick with a cold). We’ll spend Tuesday with them, then back to the hotel on Wednesday evening. At somepoint, my dad will take Chet back to Seguin to spend the night with Grany (Brian’s mom) and we’ll be taking care of our Joe-Joe. We’ll know on Tuesday what time we have to be at the hospital on Thursday, but I’m sure it’s early…it always is. I assume (you know what they say about assuming) that Joe will spend Thursday night at the hospital…I’ll be there with him. Brian will be at our Hotel. You couldn’t pry me away from my Joe-Joe…anyway, those are our plans for know. We’ll post updates on Tuesday and Thursday…
Take Care,
K and Co.

Countdown…

I can’t believe it is February already. When we scheduled Joe’s surgery, it seemed as if we had LOADS of time to prepare; now, it’s already February 3rd and I’m not ready. I still don’t know what we are going to do with Chet, how long Joe will be in the hospital (if at all), what kind of nasal packing they are going to use (won’t know that until after surgery), when our follow up appts will be (won’t know that until after surgery), don’t know when Joe will be able to get back in to his routine, don’t know how it will all play out. I guess I am a bit of a controll freak and don’t like how much of this is up in the air and will continue to be. I have to give up what I can and give the surgery stuff over to the surgeon. I guess Dr. Stockstill Gold here will just have to relax and let it be for now. I’m going to try to have lots of worksheets for Joe to do and some new toys for both boys. I know Granny Auntie Mary Jo will take care of some of the toy issues (she always has new toys for the boys;-) Aunt Jennifer (Brian’s sister) got Joe a toy skunk. He requested that as his treat after surgery. I looked EVERYWHERE for a skunk…could only find Pepe le Pu or a remote controll skunk…she found one at the TLU bookstore of all places! So, thanks for that Jenny! Let me know if y’all have any good ideas of how to keep an ACTIVE 4 year old somewhat still for two weeks! Hope you are all happy and healthy. Love to you,
K and Co.
